Reverse Gingivitis Before It Worsens

Posted on

Suffering from sore, bleeding gums is a sign that you may have gingivitis. If you visit a dentist, he or she will tell you this, but you can know that you have this type of disease simply by the signs you see, such as the bleeding of your gums. If you have this disease, you will need to take the right steps to reverse it. If you do not, it will only worsen and lead to further problems. You can reverse gingivitis, though, and here are the best steps you can take to do this.

Start brushing more effectively

Brushing your teeth at least two times a day will help you fight gingivitis. Gingivitis is an infection that is caused by plaque in your mouth. Brushing your teeth is a way to remove plaque, but you must brush for two full minutes each time you do this. You should also consider switching to a more abrasive toothpaste, such as a whitening toothpaste product. Using the right toothpaste and brushing for the right length of time can make a difference in your mouth. By doing this, you can remove more of the plaque, and this can reverse gingivitis.

Use mouthwash every day

The second thing you can do to reverse gingivitis is to start using mouthwash every single day. If you are not sure what the best type is, ask your dentist. Your dentist is likely to tell you to purchase a type of mouth wash that is designed for gum health or for the fighting of plaque. These types of mouthwash products are often called antibacterial or antiseptic products. They are designed to kill bacteria and fight plaque in your mouth. If you use a mouthwash like this daily, it can help you fight your gingivitis.

Floss daily

There are so many people who never floss their teeth. Some skip this because they do not know how to floss while others skip this simply because they do not think of it. The problem with skipping this habit is that you will allow more plaque to remain on your teeth than necessary. Flossing is one of the only methods available for removing plaque in hard-to-reach areas of the mouth. If you can start flossing at least one time each day, you can fight gingivitis and have healthier teeth and gums.
